FAQs

Participation & Registration

Are your events in person or virtual?

Our event offerings are virtual; they’re livestreams of in-person, POV-style tours of sites. They are field trips where we film and broadcast the trips as they happen, so hundreds of students can enjoy them at once!

While we would love to do in-person events, the virtual format is the only way to do what we do: bringing multiple classrooms of students into small spaces like labs and design studios, dangerous places like airplane hangars and factories, and faraway places more than 30 minutes by bus away from school. It also means you don’t have to get parents to sign permission slips, or organize transportation for your students!

Is it easy to participate?

Participating in our curriculum-aligned livestream adventures is as easy as following a link. Check out our ‘How it Works’ page here to read about how easy it is to register and participate!

Are the dates and times listed for each livestream event fixed or is it possible to modify them to suit our class schedules?

The dates and times listed on the website for each live event are in fact fixed, as they reflect when the experts from the sites we will be visiting are available.

As all of our events are cross-disciplinary, so if one that you'd be interested in participating in is happening during a period that isn't yours, or starts during your class period and finishes during another teacher's, we recommend that you coordinate with that other teacher to have your students continue the event with them. Furthermore, if an event has enough teacher interest, we are always ready to re-do it! You can join our newsletter here to stay in the loop and find out immediately when that might happen!

Can I participate in or view experiences after they’ve happened? Are they recorded?

Since all of our livestream experiences happen in real-time, there is technically no way to participate in a past live experience. We do however record our live events, and we do offer an Asynchronous option to view events after they’ve aired live for people who cannot attend the dates/times of the live event. Registering for asynchronous viewing for any event grants you access to the Educational Resource materials of that event upon registration, and a recording of the live event which you can watch with your class, available from the Monday - Friday after the live event. If you would need access to the recording of the event after that period, please contact info@e2adventures.com to make a request.

Remounts of previous events are based on popular demand, so if you liked one of our past events, please contact our team and let us know so we can potentially do so!

If you’re just looking to get an idea of what happens during one of our livestream events, you can visit our YouTube channel, where we have content from past events.

Is there a maximum number of students I can register per event?

Not at all! You can bring as many or as few students as you’d like. There are, however, a limited number of interactive spots for live events, which are reserved on a first come first service basis. If the cap for live interactive spots is reached, we will update our events page to let you know, and you may still register for view-only.

Typically, individual teachers register one or more of their classes, or work with other teachers to bring more than one class of students. School boards, principals and teachers can also register entire schools and grades, simultaneously, for a large-scale cross-disciplinary event.

Is it possible to change the number of students I bring closer to the date of the event?

Yes! While you must register for an event option with a specific number of student participants, you may change that number at any point before the date of the live event.

If you have registered for a live interactive event, it is necessary that you inform our registration team of your updated attendance numbers at least three days in advance of the live event date. Please contact info@e2adventures.com to do so.

The livestream event I want to register for doesn’t have interactive spots available. What do I do?

Unfortunately, interactive spots for our livestrean events are first come, first serve. If you are still interested in participating in the event, you may either:

  • Register for the ‘View-only’ option, to watch the livestream as it happens but without Slido interactivity

  • Register for the ‘Asynchronous’ option, to watch a recording of the livestream after it has aired (available from the Monday after the event to the Friday of that same week).

I registered for an event and haven’t gotten a confirmation email yet. What should I do?

You should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours after you’ve registered for an event. If you haven’t, first check your spam folder to make sure it didn’t end up there by accident (sometimes that happens). If it’s not there, please reach out to info@e2adventures.com and let our team know, who can investigate and help.

Educational Aspect

Is E2 Adventures a for-profit or non-profit organization?

We are a nonprofit and mission-driven organization, inspired by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of people across the country every year!

What ages are your events most appropriate for?

Our events can be adapted for a variety of ages and grade levels, but are specifically designed for students in grades 6 - 12 (grade 6 to secondary 5 in Quebec). While we know that is a large age gap, we make sure to cover the broader themes related to the topics discussed during our events (as well as some specific curriculum connections), and trust that teachers will make the links to their specific classroom learnings and convey material covered in a way that speaks to their students’ level.

Do you offer trips for younger students?

We currently do not have different trips for younger levels (Grades 1-5), but it is in the works! If you are interested in this, you can contact our team and let us know.

Are your events only offered in one language?

No, we offer each of our events in both English and French. Our French-language website is here: www.aventuresE2.com. Please note that the date and time of livestream events may differ depending on what language it is being offered in.

Your website says your events are “curriculum-aligned.” What does that mean?

We design our experiences such that any educator from any core discipline-- science and technology, mathematics, language arts or social studies-- can easily make connections between what their students are covering in class and the world that is being explored through our events.

The experience is, in essence, a learning and evaluation situation that, by means of the educational support material we provide for every event, is intended to inspire classroom discussions, projects and activities. Our goal through this is to facilitate cross-curriculum learning experiences for students.

Is there any emphasis on the curriculum of a specific province or state (ex. Ontario, Quebec, New York, etc.)?

Our events broach subject areas common to all province and state curriculum. We adapt our educational approach to cover the bases of all province curriculums. If you do not see your province or state’s curriculum reflected in our experience or materials, please write our team at info@e2adventures.com.

Classroom Specifics

Is each trip unique to our school?

The benefit of the virtual field trip format is that schools and classes from coast to coast can view and participate in every one of our trips all at the same time. On any given trip, there could be hundreds to thousands of participants from a myriad of different schools.

I want to participate in an event, but the runtime of the event would go into another teacher’s period. I don’t want to disrupt that other teacher’s class time. How would you handle that?

If your desired experience takes place during another teachers' class time, even better! Since our experiences are cross-curricular and curriculum-aligned, invite them to participate in the experience with your shared group of students. Teachers are invited to share the educational materials we provide to ensure that students’ field trip experiences reflect learning that they would be doing in their classes!

In terms of scheduling, our virtual field trips are just like in-person school trips, and schools have to block off the time needed for the students to participate. In this way, if a teacher wants to take their class on one of our trips that goes into another teacher’s period, they can coordinate with the other teacher to arrange this.

I have a “No cell phone” rule in my class/ in the school. Is it possible to do the field trip without a phone?

Yes! Students can use school laptops or tablets, or have their teacher log onto Slido from their classroom computer or phone and type in the questions that students have.

If these solutions might not be suitable for your classroom, please contact us directly here so that our team can understand your situation and help you figure out a plan.

If I’m a teacher, what do I do during the trip?

As a teacher, there’s a lot you can do to support your class as they embark on their live virtual field trip adventure!

Before the trip, use our educational resource materials to contextualize the field trip in relation to your existing lesson plans, or subjects you have broached or will broach during the school year.

During the trip, encourage your students to ask challenging questions, and make connections between what the students are seeing and what they’ve been learning in class! Also, don’t hesitate to log into Slido yourself and ask questions to the experts to help propel the experience, or participate in the activities presented by the experts.

Immediately after the field trip, debrief with your students about their experience:

  • Reflect on their experiences: What happened? How did they feel about it? What was most important to them? How does the experience relate to their life?

  • Apply their learning to influence their decisions and actions in various aspects of their lives.

  • Use our educational materials to connect the field trip experience with the subjects you are covering in class.
