Imagine a world where accidents are a thing of the past, and our vehicles do all the thinking for us... What would we need to do to make that happen, and what is being done today to make that world a reality?

Join E2 Adventures on a high-speed experience exploring the evolving ways we move, as we visit a telecommunications company to discover how wireless networks enable autonomous vehicles to interact with the world around them, a sensors and image technologies manufacturer that helps these cars "see" for themselves, and finally an autonomous vehicle factory to see what makes their cars tick.

TRIP ITINERARY

  • Site 1: Cell phone tower

Witness how Internet infrastructure “intersects” with transportation! We’ll go live at a cell phone tower to learn how rooftop antennas will help self-driving vehicles ‘talk to’ the world around them and discuss issues around network availability and equity.

  • Site 2: Automotive AI company

Discover how self-driving cars perceive the world around them! We’ll ride along with an expert at a company that creates sensor and image technologies that make cars “see” - radar, lidar, and cameras -, to uncover how they work, and discuss the social and ethical dilemmas that surround self-driving vehicles.

  • Site 3: Vehicle Maker

To top it off, we'll visit a vehicle factory to learn how car parts are made, what kind of metal and minerals it takes, and how factories everywhere are fitting into the story of the future of transportation.

*please note that all sites are subject to change at any time.

EDUCATIONAL APPROACH

Who is this for?

  • Any math, science, social studies and languages class interested in innovation in technology and transportation, and the impacts changes can and will have on society and how humans and goods travels.

  • Social studies and language classes investigating the Sustainable Development Goals “Sustainable Cities and Communities” and the ethical trolley problem surrounding self-driving vehicles

  • Science students exploring how artificial intelligence will impact and change transportation systems

  • Math classes exploring practical the applications of data

  • Transportation and Computer Technology classes looking to understand the changes in society and its relation to transportation innovations

  • Career and SHSM programs could use this as a promotional tool for students considering ICT and Transportation

We always curate educational resource materials for every trip, to help educators of any subject area link their chosen field trip with their curriculum, and engage in all aspects of the Experiential Learning Cycle (Participate-Reflect-Apply).
